fibercore | boron-doped photosensitive fiber

Product introduction

The photosensitive (PS) series fibers of the fiber core are co-doped with boron and germanium. The combination of boron and germanium provides extremely high photosensitivity while maintaining a relatively large mode field diameter (MFD). The high sensitivity ensures that high reflectivity fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) can be loaded on the fiber for a short time or without hydrogenation. PS fibers can be used directly from the rack without hydrogenation, providing strong and consistent photosensitivity without interruption.


PS fibers offer significant advantages for high volume FBG production lines by drastically reducing production time per FBG, such as in diode laser FBG stabilizers and gain flattening filters.


The PS1250/1500 has been designed to match the MFD characteristics of typical dual wavelength, 1310nm and 1550nm telecom fibers, making it suitable for manufacturing add-drop multiplexers or Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifiers (EDFA) Gain Flattening Filters (GFFS).


The PS980 has been designed for use with pigtailed 980nm EDFA pump diodes, enabling wavelength-stabilized (or "pump-locked") gratings written directly into the pigtail.
