Unlike other cladding pump or double clad fibers, the core double clad Erbium/Ytterbium doped fiber (CP1500 Y) was originally designed as a high power communication amplifier fiber. The pump light is guided within the all-silicon dioxide structure, using a fluorinated secondary cladding to create the pump-guided boundary without the need for a low-index polymer. The all-silicon design provides excellent power handling over the entire temperature and humidity range without the reliability issues observed in low-index polymer cladding designs.
The all-silicon design means that the fibers can be stripped, cut and spliced using standard telecom industry equipment without the need to rewind the fibers.

3. The petal structure effectively optimizes the conversion of the pump
4. After the coating stripping process, the pump guide structure will not be removed. Therefore, low index recoating is not required.
