High temperature acrylate coated single mode (SM) fibers with fiber core are designed for continuous use at +150°C. Fibers are available in different numerical aperture (NA) ranges to provide different levels of macro and micro bending loss and mode field diameter (MFD) to provide the best choice based on the application.
The SM1500(9/125)HT is primarily designed as a low attenuation fiber for use as a transmission fiber, or as a distributed temperature sensor (DTS), distributed pressure sensing (DPS), distributed strain sensing (DSS), and distributed Distributed sensors for acoustic sensing (DAS) applications. The higher cut-off wavelength than standard electrical signal fibers allows such fibers to provide improved bending losses over standard single-mode fibers.
The 6.4µm and 7.8µm MFD variants are designed to have very low macro and microbend losses for Raman, Rayleigh, and Brillouin sensor systems, higher backscatter coefficients, and better compatibility with high NA, small MFD sensor coil fibers. Better splicing compatibility to allow use as a "bridge fiber", often used. Applications in Acoustic Sensors.
