fibercore | pure silicon core Sm fiber

Product introduction

The fiber core pure silica core SM fiber (SM-SC) is designed for high performance demanding applications. SM1500 SC (9/125) and SM1500 SC (9/125) P are designed for use in hydrogen-rich environments where a pure silica core resists the effects of hydrogen blackening. The SM300-SC and SM400-SC are designed for ultraviolet (UV) and visible wavelength transmission. The silica core prevents the photo-blackening effect commonly associated with germanium-doped fibers.


The fluorinated, recessed cladding design (see image to the right) allows the core to be made of pure silicon dioxide without the need for germanium doping.


The SM1500 SC (9/125)P is designed for downhole oil and gas applications. The fiber is designed to resist the effects of hydrogen intrusion and, when used with a high performance polyimide coating, ensures that the fiber is suitable for high temperature hole applications.
